Identical twins Toma Banjanin (vocals) and Andy Banjanin (drums) grew up on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia.
In 2020 they released their debut LP “Must be a dream” (2020), receiving positive coverage in the mainstream press and was reviewed by The FT (3/5 stars), Clash (8/10) and Earmilk (8/10). It got plays on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and BBC Radio London. Toma was interviewed live on BBC Radio 1 by Jack Saunders and Tempesst was named BBC Future Artist. The album has gone on to stream in the millions.
Tempesst returned in 2023 with Prisoner of Desire, receiving positive coverage in the media with feature pieces in Rolling Stone, DIY, Clash and The Line of Best. The Prisoner of Desire tour was the band’s largest to date, with a landmark performance at London’s Islington Assembly Hall and sold out shows in Manchester, Paris and Berlin.
